“Jacob, why do you say,
and Israel, why do you assert,
“My way is hidden from the Lord,
and my claim is ignored by my God”?
Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the whole earth.
He never becomes faint or weary;
there is no limit to his understanding.
He gives strength to the faint
and strengthens the powerless.”
Isaiah 40:27-29 CSB
Does it seem like God is unaware of us or not interested in our concerns? Does He disregard us? Life can be so stressful, hectic, and overwhelming—especially at this time of the year. Sometimes our problems can be so great it seems that God has stopped caring.
Advent is a time to remember—to know and hear again that our Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the whole earth. The One who never tires and never misunderstands. The One who gives strength to those who lack it. Every trial we will ever face is addressed by these truths.
Advent reminds us that our Lord became one of us to ultimately take our sin and give us Himself. His power to keep going in the face of adversity. The same power that led Him live a perfect life, endure the cross, and then rise from the grave. The power of love—because He always sees us and simply cannot stop caring!
